Albertson’s Nutrition iQ
In Eagle Idaho Albertsons shoppers are noticing a change around the grocery isle. As part of their “nutrition iQ” program Albertsons is brining attention to healthier products around the store. Products that meet FDA criteria for low saturated fat," "low calorie" and "excellent source fiber" will be color coded to help customers make healthier decisions when grocery shopping. The program is scheduled to be in place in all Albertson’s by the end of February. The goal of the program is to promote overall health and prevent childhood obesity be educating shoppers in the grocery isle.

WILD Predicts 2009’s Flavor Trends
From scanning the list of predicted industry trends for 2009 some trend seem to make perfect sense, like private label – of course consumers will be looking for better value in the current economy. Others are surprising; while 2008 seemed to be a year for innovation and new flavor combinations, 2009 looks like it’s going to be repeating styles of the past. The list includes revolutionizing old favorite comfort foods and heirloom foods. Other more obvious trends include gluten free and health and convenience.
